What you are paying for
Two plans at the same price can be very different. These are the variables worth checking before you compare on cost alone.
A Delhi NCR plan costs less than a PAN India plan because the network has less ground to cover. If you only ever drive in the city, you are paying for range you will not use.
The single biggest variable. Plans include a set number of kilometres; past that, towing is billed on an actual-cost basis.
Cheaper and bundled plans often cap how many times you can call in a year. Check this before comparing on price.
A single-vehicle plan is cheapest. Family plans covering several vehicles cost more in total but less per vehicle.
Two-wheeler cover is cheaper — the equipment needed to recover a bike is lighter than a flatbed for a car.
Standalone membership is available whatever the age of your vehicle, which is the main practical difference from manufacturer cover.
The honest version
Most people searching for the cost of roadside assistance have just discovered their bundled cover has lapsed. Here is the sequence.
Manufacturer roadside assistance is included with the warranty. You pay nothing extra at the point of use, and most owners never call it.
The bundled roadside assistance ends at the same time. Nothing tells you this has happened — you find out when you break down.
A single tow or on-site repair is billed per call-out on an actual-cost basis, which usually exceeds a full year of membership.
Either renew through the dealer alongside a paid service, or buy a standalone membership for the car you already own — no dealer visit, any vehicle age.
Straight answers
The questions people actually search for, answered directly.
A standalone roadside assistance membership in India typically costs between ₹1,199 and ₹22,000 a year, depending on how far the cover extends and how many vehicles it covers. Our Delhi NCR plans start at the lower end; PAN India plans that cover long-distance travel sit higher.
The table above is pulled live from our plans system, so it reflects today's prices rather than a figure written into a page months ago.
Usually, yes — eventually. A new car normally includes manufacturer roadside assistance for the warranty period at no extra charge. Once that warranty ends, the free cover ends with it, and you either renew through the dealer or buy a standalone membership.
If you are out of warranty and have no cover, a single tow or jump start is billed per call-out, which is almost always more expensive than a year's membership.
The cheapest option is a city-limited annual membership rather than a pay-per-call-out service. Our lowest Delhi NCR plan starts at ₹1,199 a year — see the table above for the current figure.
Be careful comparing on headline price alone: check the towing distance included, whether there is a cap on the number of call-outs, and whether cover applies outside your city.
Standalone specialists are generally cheaper than renewing through a dealer, because a dealer package is priced alongside a service visit. Compare on cost per year against towing distance included, not on the sticker price.
Our plans are listed in full above with no lead form in the way, so you can compare them directly against whatever your dealer has quoted.
It is free while your new-car warranty covers it, and free at the point of use if you hold a membership — you call the helpline and the included services are not billed separately.
What is never free is an uncovered call-out. Without a warranty or a membership, towing and on-site repair are charged individually.
"Free roadside assistance" almost always means it is bundled into something you have already paid for — a new-car warranty, an extended warranty, a motor insurance add-on, or a credit card benefit. It is not a separate free service.
The catch is that bundled cover is usually the narrowest: limited towing distance, a capped number of call-outs per year, and cover that ends the day the warranty does.
Vehicle recovery and towing beyond the distance your plan includes is charged on an actual-cost basis — it depends on the distance, the vehicle type and the equipment needed, so a flatbed recovery for an SUV costs more than a short wheel-lift tow for a hatchback.
Call 01147090909 with your location and vehicle and you will be quoted before anything is dispatched.
24x7 roadside assistance means the helpline is staffed and technicians are dispatched at any hour, on any day, including public holidays — not that an office takes a message overnight.
It matters because breakdowns do not keep office hours. Our average arrival time in major metros is 30 to 45 minutes, day or night. Crossroads Helpline has operated this way since 1999.
Yes. You do not need to buy a car, renew a warranty or take an insurance policy to get roadside assistance — you can buy a standalone annual membership for a vehicle you already own, whatever its age.
That is what we sell. Pick a plan, pay for the year, and the cover starts immediately.
Tell us where you drive and what you drive, and we will point you at the cheapest plan that actually covers you.
