Can you buy roadside assistance separately? Yes — here’s how

You do not need to buy a new car, renew a warranty, or add it to a motor insurance policy. Standalone roadside assistance is an annual membership you buy for the vehicle you already own — whatever its age — starting at ₹1,199 a year.

The difference

Bundled cover vs buying it separately

Manufacturer and insurer roadside assistance is bundled into something else. Standalone cover is not tied to anything.

Straight answers

Buying roadside assistance separately — your questions

Can I buy RSA separately?

Yes. Roadside assistance can be bought on its own as an annual membership, with no requirement to buy a car, renew a warranty, or take out a motor insurance policy at the same time.

You choose a plan for the vehicle you already own, pay for the year, and cover begins. There is no dealer visit and no vehicle inspection.

Can I buy roadside assistance without insurance?

Yes. Standalone roadside assistance is a service membership, not an insurance product, so it is not tied to your motor policy and does not need to be bought from your insurer.

Buying it separately also means it does not lapse or renew on your insurance's schedule — it runs on its own annual term.

Can I get roadside assistance for an old car?

Yes. Vehicle age is the main practical reason people buy standalone cover: manufacturer roadside assistance ends with the warranty, and dealers generally will not sell it for an out-of-warranty car.

A standalone membership is available whatever the age of the vehicle.

Is standalone roadside assistance better than the dealer's?

It is usually cheaper, because a dealer package is priced alongside a paid service visit, and it is not restricted to one manufacturer's network.

Compare on the things that matter when you actually break down: towing distance included, how many call-outs a year, whether cover extends outside your city, and the response time you are promised.

Do I need to be a member before I break down?

For membership pricing, yes — cover applies from the day you buy it, so it needs to be in place before you need it.

If you are broken down right now without cover, call 01147090909 anyway. A one-off call-out is charged on an actual-cost basis and you will be quoted before anything is dispatched.
