Can I use tyre sealant instead of carrying a spare tyre?

Tyre sealant can work as a temporary fix, but it shouldn’t fully replace a spare tyre. Sealant is great for small punctures caused by nails or screws in the tread area, sealing the hole quickly so you can keep driving. However, it won’t help with sidewall damage, large cuts, or blowouts, where a spare tyre is your only option. Sealant is also a short-term solution and can complicate professional repairs later. For safety, it’s best to carry both a sealant kit and a spare. If you’re stuck without either, contact Crossroads Helpline for quick roadside help.
