Essential Steps To Check Coolant For Optimal Performance
Essential Steps to Check Coolant for Optimal Performance
To check your car’s coolant, ensure the engine is cool to prevent burns. Locate the coolant reservoir, usually a translucent plastic tank near the radiator, marked with “min” and “max” lines. If the level is between these lines, it’s adequate. If low, add a mixture of 50% water and 50% antifreeze up to the “max” line. Alternatively, you can check the coolant directly in the radiator by removing the cap When the engine is cold and ensuring it’s filled to the top. Always use the correct type of coolant specified in your vehicle’s manual, and never open the radiator cap when the engine is hot, as this can cause severe burns from steam or hot coolant. Regularly inspecting the coolant level can prevent overheating and engine damage
